Your files never leave your device. Everything is processed in your browser. How to verify

Privacy & how it works

NorthCalc Tools is built so that your files never leave your device. Here's exactly what that means and how you can check it yourself.

Your files are processed in your browser

When you open a tool, your browser downloads the tool's code (just like any web page). When you add a file, that code reads and processes the file locally — on your phone or computer. The result is created on your device and saved straight to your downloads. We have no server that receives files, so there's nothing to upload to.

Enforced by your browser, not just promised

Our site sends a Content Security Policy that tells your browser to block connections to any server other than ours, and our server only hosts static files. Even if a bug tried to send your file somewhere, the browser would refuse.

What we don't collect

We don't collect file names, file contents, text from your documents or image data. We don't require an account, an email address or cookies to use the tools.

Analytics

If we enable analytics, we'll only use privacy-friendly, cookie-free page counts and anonymous tool usage (for example, “Merge PDF was used with 3 files”). Never file names or contents. This page will always list what is measured.

Check it yourself in under a minute

  1. 1Open a tool, such as Merge PDF.
  2. 2Open your browser's developer tools (F12, or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac) and choose the Network tab.
  3. 3Add your files and run the tool. You'll see no request carrying your file — only the page's own code, which loads before you pick anything.
  4. 4For the strongest test: load the tool, then turn off Wi-Fi or switch to airplane mode. The tool keeps working, because it never needed the internet to process your files.

Honest limits

Because everything runs on your device, very large files depend on your device's memory and speed. If a future tool ever needs a server to deliver acceptable quality, it will be clearly labelled before you add any file, and it will be optional.
